Genetic Moo 10:30 – 12:30 Foyle Rooms
Genetic Moo will be running a touchscreen interactive piece and promoting their October NOW digital festival. You can add your face to the Leviathan which builds into a giant dancing figure, a common-wealth. The results will be projected at the NOW digital festival which is a 10 day celebration of local people being creative with computers and technology.  Hundreds of artists and makers have contributed to the festival organised in collaboration with The Margate School in the former Woolworths building on Margate High Street.

NOW digital runs from 18 – 27 October 12:00 – 18:00 daily with special lates : Exploding Cinema, Algoraves and Cinesthesia. NOW digital is supported by Arts Council England with National Lottery funding.

Waste Free Fashion Collective 13:15 – 15:15 Foyle Rooms 1 & 2 
Waste Free Fashion Collective presents a zero waste pop-up store at Turner Contemporary.  Showcasing collection pieces from the designers previous catwalks at Turner Contemporary and Soho House Berlin. These one off pieces will be available to purchase. The event will be run by collective member Erin Laurel Hayhow, who invites the public to come try on the garments and learn more about the collective and their Waste To Wear catwalk for Margate NOW happening on 6 October at 13:00.

The takeover will include a visual projection of their previous catwalks for you to see, made by videographer Jess Dadds.

Jessica Jordan-Wrench 13:15 – 15:15 Foyle Rooms 3
Jessica Jordan-Wrench presents The Sacred Act of Remembering IRL. Text spoken through a 34 inch symphonic gong via a surface speaker, so the words are submerged within rich drones. 

Jessica Jordan-Wrench is a disciplinary artist working across installation, performance, writing, sound and video. She was an associate artist at Open School East in 2017 and was selected for Bloomberg New Contemporaries in 2018. She often collaborates with Eoin Furbank under the name Dot Dash.

Melanie Wheeler 16:00 – 18:00 Foyle Rooms 1 and 2  
As part of ongoing research into land use, commons and communities, Melanie Wheeler has made a collection of sound recordings, short films, photographs and research exploring public green spaces and the effects that they have on the people that interact with them which she presents as LAND (Recordings) Audio & Video recordings from Sandwich & Pegwell Bay Nature Reserve.

Inspired by the methods, ethos and atmosphere of various community garden programs involved in this research, Melanie Wheeler has attempted to encapsulate the experience of naturally occurring elements that can have positive effects on mental health, wellbeing and emotions within these spaces.

Margate Reimagined is a present day vision of Margate with an alternative past. Bringing together heritage both real and imaginary this project speculates about a town that might have been, or could yet become.

Use model making and collage to explore the imaginary potential of Margate and create your own vision of the town to be included in the exhibition.
