The Reading Room #1. Speculative Futures: Feminist Science Fiction
27 November, 19:00 – 21:00
The Reading Room thinks about where reading is situated in artistic practice and considers reading as practice. The reading room is a space for sharing, listening and discovering. The Reading Room will become a growing community resource of texts at CRATE available for people to borrow.
For the first iteration of The Reading Room we will be thinking about Feminist Science Fiction; we will look at Christine de Pizan’s 1405 work The Book of the City of Ladies, which inspired Tai Shani’s Turner Prize piece, and will read from the likes of Ursula K Le Guin and Octavia Butler.. Please bring any materials you would like to share related to this theme.
