Collective Disturbance: Curated by Ruth Fox
27 September 2019 11:00 - 10 October 2019 19:00
Open 27 September – 10 October, Tuesday – Sunday 11:00 – 17:00; Thursday 15:00 – 20:00
Performance by Claire Orme
9 October, 19:00 – 20:15
Join Claire Orme at Gordon House Margate as she responds to the themes of ‘Collective Disturbance’ curated by Ruth Fox. Utilising her body as an instrument and giving a ‘voice’ to her suppressed orifices, Orme’s recent performance work attempts to cross and diminish the awkward boundaries between public and private. Specialising in performance art and sound installation, she employs her skills as a musician to investigate the narrative contours of spaces and objects.
**Please note, some of Claire’s performances contain adult content and are not suitable for children.
‘Collective Disturbance’ honours that it is both a remarkable yet alarming time to live on this planet. It presents topics that both disturb and celebrate, and translates our progress whilst illuminating our failures.
Through sculpture, painting, drawing, site-specific installations and light art, 9 contemporary artists tackle topics affecting our collective psyche, from the new masculinity, feminism and gender to climate change, political unrest and social divide.
Exhibiting artists: Robert Montgomery, Chris Moon, Ruth Fox, Charlie Evaristo-Boyce, Claire de Lune, Luke Vandenberg, Elizabeth Hunter, Samuel Eyles and Helder Clara.
