Brigitte Aphrodite and Quiet Boy’s new show Parakeet is soaring back to Margate for an exclusive homecoming performance following an unforgettable run at Edinburgh Fringe.
In Margate an isolated teenager forms a band and finds her voice with the help of a gang of exotic birds. Dust, a lively, offbeat 17-year-old from Thanet, and Tam, a musically gifted Eritrean refugee facing an uncertain future, take our Girl under their wings. Together they are The Parakeets.
Parakeet is a genre-crossing status quo defying musical about finding your flock and ruffling feathers. A feast for the ears, eyes and heart told through irresistible song, punk poetry, electronic sounds and cutting edge fashion.
In a world full of uncertainties, only one thing is for sure: it’s time to discover the new spirit of punk, a gentler punk – punk with empathy.

Dreamland is proud to be producing exciting cultural events in the town for the Margate NOW Festival.
Taking place away from the main park in venues across Margate, these arts events will showcase the talent, creativity and expertise of local artists and musicians to help grow the town’s unique night-time creative economy. The events – under the title Nowland – will form part of the extensive Margate NOW festival programme during the Turner Prize 2019 exhibition.
