19:00 – 01:00  Taking the mundane spirit of their name as a manifesto, Crystal Palace based two piece JOHN (both members aptly named John) offer a deadpan approach that has become the recognisable force of their live performance, with an almost mechanical solidity rare for only two bodies. Alongside the rhythmic synchronisation of guitar and drums, introspective lyrics suggest that literature and spoken word are just as important influences as the Punk, Noise and Rock genres they might comfortably fit into.

The hotly tipped post-punk, disco-funk phenomenon Squid are back with new single ‘The Cleaner’ and the news of an EP called ‘Town Centre’.
On ‘The Cleaner,’ Squid are at their dynamic best; making good on the angular funk of ‘The Dial’ and the disco-punk of ‘Houseplants’ that has seen them receive love from radio, press and fans everywhere they’ve been. ‘The Cleaner’ is inspired by moving to London, trying to adjust to the pace and lifestyle of the city and all the issues that throws up. As with any Squid track, ‘The Cleaner’ is bursting with ideas and a clear energy and determination within the band to embrace different musical styles.

Porridge Radio began as Dana Margolin’s sadcore bedroom project in 2012. Now a post-punk 4-piece, they inelegantly knot together vicious, furious emotional outpour with beautifully melodic pop songs.After a series of home-recorded demos, and the growing legend of their intense live shows, they released full-band debut LP ‘Rice, Pasta and Other Fillers’ on Memorials of Distinction in 2016. Recorded in a garden shed, the lofi debut documents struggles with life, love and boredom, and showcases the scrapbook absurdism at Porridge Radio’s core.

Michelin stars. The finest ingredients money can buy: Kool Keith and Iggy Pop. Funk, punk, hip-hop and lounge rock. Love is real.

Tainted Lunch was recorded in just four days, with soupe du jour Dan Carey (Kate Tempest, black midi, Fontaines DC). Warmduscher continue to live on their razor-sharp wits. Or as Clams Baker puts it “there’s no way to stop now”. Delivering the goods you never knew you needed.

STEALING SHEEP

Stealing Sheep are an art-pop band from Liverpool, who formed in 2010. Their line up includes Rebecca Hawley (vocals and keys), Emily Lansley (vocals and guitar) and Luciana Mercer (vocals and drum kit).

Their third album ‘Big Wows’ is heavier, harder and weirder than Stealing Sheep’s previous work. Bold neon pop songs with rave percussion, steelpans, dreamy segues and breathy experiments. The *fsszzt* sound of lemonade opens the album with a hyper-real sense of optimism that progressively reveals the cracks of dystopian irony amidst sugar–coated pop; held together by Emily Lansley’s bass guitar, Luciana Mercer’s drum kit, Rebecca Hawley’s synths, and the trio’s swooning steely vocal harmonies.
