The death of George Floyd: Sebastian September

“Three words ‘BLM’ I wanted to help support black & brown people because I felt bad for George the way he died a slow painful death was not necessary I went with my mum to peaceful protest we walked along the seafront past the Turner and kneeled for 8 mins 46 secs. It made me think about kneeling on George It made me feel sad. The UK is not innocent.”

What drew you to this artform?

When I was 5 my best friend Quinn had a lego animation app and then I started using Stick bot studio app. When I moved to Margate I joined the charity run 0937 lego animation club in Ramsgate which is now sadly closed after covid. Then I started to use Stop Motion Studio. That’s when i started to make improved lego stop motions!

As restrictions are lifting where will you be heading to first in Margate?

We drove halfway to where we used to live to collect my best friend ever Quinn then drove back to Margate for a two night stay. I felt really happy to see Quinn again. We went to the beach and we animated together. Next time I want him to stay for a week and a half if possible.  

Tell us a bit about this place

I love the sea and the rough waves because they are huge and they make me laugh when they go over my head.

What do you see the artists role being in the overall effort to dismantle systemic racism?

Get more subscribers to see my videos so they can see that racism is terrible.
